Top Station Trek: Munnar, home to many hills and forests has many trekking options for the explorer in you, though a little far from the main town of Munnar the view from the top is breathtaking and a once in a lifetime experience making it totally worth the travel.
Eravikulam National Park: Housing the endangered Nilgiri Thar this national park is quite the family crowd puller due to it’s vast expanses and lush green hills that are in view. Anamudi the highest peak here is a popular trekking spot and in season the park is famous for exhibiting the Neelakurinji (Strobilanthes kunthianas), which blooms once in 12 years.
Mattupetty Dam: At 1700m height this dam gives you an unforgettable view of the lake and the surrounding hills. Watersports are available here and boating here puts you in an ideal setting to absorb the surrounding serenity.
Carmelagiri Elephant Park: A half an hour ride on an elephant through the dense foliage of the park gives you the feel of the forest. A visit to the park also ensures a detailed insight on the habits, habitat and other valuable information about the loved mammal for the visitor.
Meesapulimala : The peak is probably one of the most sought after treks in Kerala due to the beauty of the place,24 kilometers from Munnar and at 2460m this is the second highest peak in the state, putting you among the clouds as you scale up to view the Western Ghats in all it’s majesty.
Punarjani Traditional Village: Taste the essence of Kerala as you head over to this place for a traditional show of Kathakali the local art form and Kalaripayattu which is an ancient martial art form that has been practiced for centuries.
Kolukkumalai Tea Plantation: Taking pride in being the highest tea plantation in the world, it stands tall at 7900 feet with tea processed in age old traditions to maintain top notch quality of the leaves making the tea from here one of the finest in India. Take a morning walk and have a date with the mist surrounding you as you sip refreshing steaming tea.
Kundala Lake: Approximately 25 km from Munnar Town this lake is surrounded by green hills which reflect on the lake to make you seem that you are on a green lake itself and the hour long shikara ride on it is assured to give you the peace of mind which you have come for.
Waterfalls: The tea kingdom has much more to offer than the above adding the cherry on top of the cake with a myriad of waterfalls to visit. Some of these are the Attukal Waterfalls, which offers a short walk to the falls through the misty forest as an appetizer to the main view of the waterfalls itself; other waterfalls to visit include the Powerhouse, Lakkam and Thoovanam waterfalls.
